Mobile / Verification Terms
Version: 5 October 2026.
Anyone may use the Hookt mobile app and ordinary verification service, including private individuals who have no commercial relationship with Hookt. No Hookt consumer signup, account or profile is required. The paid business subscription is governed separately by the Business Terms.

Jero.Eu BV provides the app and verification service. These Terms explain their intended use and limits. They preserve mandatory rights applicable to individual users.
2. How verification works
Camera frames are handled locally and transiently to decode a QR code. The decoded verification input, or input from a supported verification link, is sent to Hookt’s backend. Hookt validates the token and checks the protected communication and verification information recorded for the sending organization. Internet access is required.
A result can show the organization, sender information, subject, masked recipient, sending time and reference where available. Compare those details with the communication you received. Anyone holding a usable QR or link can request its result; this does not authenticate that person as the intended recipient.
3. What a result means
Verification provides information to help you assess whether a communication is an authentic Hookt-protected message from the claimed sender or a potential spoofing or phishing attempt. It checks Hookt’s recorded information, not every word or item in the surrounding email.
Hookt does not guarantee the truthfulness or safety of statements, links, attachments or instructions, scan for malware, or guarantee that phishing is impossible. A copied QR may still return the original message’s result even if surrounding content has changed. A valid result does not rule out a compromised sender account. Continue to exercise judgment before opening files, following links, sharing information or making payments.
4. Other results and availability
An invalid or unrecognized result means the input has not been established as an eligible Hookt-protected communication. Verification can also be unavailable because of connectivity, maintenance, supporting services or abuse controls. An unavailable or unsuccessful check alone proves neither fraud nor legitimacy.
5. History on your device
Selected results are stored locally as a verification and evidence reference. Hookt applies no automatic expiry and provides no history-clearing function. History remains until the app or app data is removed or the operating system otherwise removes local data. Hookt does not synchronize it between devices.
Removing app data or uninstalling the app removes local history subject to operating-system and device backup or restore behavior; offloading can retain data. Local deletion does not delete separate server-side verification and evidence records. History is a reference to a past result, not an immutable evidence archive or a fresh verification.
6. Optional feedback
You may be offered optional feedback about matching information or a suspicious QR. Feedback is a user-reported signal, separate from the technical check, and does not by itself establish fraud. The outcome may also be saved in local history.
7. Privacy
The Privacy Policy explains communication processing for subscribing businesses and Jero.Eu BV’s separate administration, security and service-integrity purposes. Accountless use still involves sending verification input to the backend. See account deletion information for device-local history and server records.
8. Responsible use and intellectual property
Use Hookt lawfully and for its intended purposes. Do not forge or manipulate results, abuse verification or feedback, bypass security controls or seek unauthorized access. Jero.Eu BV or its licensors retain the software and branding rights; you may use the app and service for their intended verification purpose, subject to these Terms and lawful exceptions.
9. Service care and responsibility
We provide the verification service with reasonable care. It depends on network, device and supporting-service availability and may experience interruptions or errors. There is no guaranteed uptime or promise of uninterrupted or error-free operation. These limitations do not exclude responsibility or remedies that applicable law requires. The business subscription liability cap is not imposed on ordinary individual verification users.
10. Updates and changes
Device compatibility and security may require updates. We will identify changed Terms and provide appropriate notice of material changes. Changes apply prospectively; additional agreement will be obtained where required. Separate operating-system or store terms may also apply without removing your mandatory rights.
11. Law and contact
Belgian law applies, without prejudice to mandatory protections under the law of your residence where applicable. Mandatory jurisdiction rules are preserved. For enquiries or privacy requests, write to Jero.Eu BV at the address in section 1. The Contact page shows online form availability.
